Mission
Founded in 1992, The Southern Rockies Ecosystem Project (SREP) is a non-profit
conservation science organization working to protect, restore and
connect ecosystems in the Southern Rockies of Colorado, Wyoming and New
Mexico.
SREP utilizes conservation science principles and geographic information system
(GIS) mapping technology to identify and protect wildlands
critical to the preservation of native biodiversity in the Southern Rockies.
SREP seeks to accomplish this
mission by minimizing the effects of habitat
fragmentation on wildlife and wildlife habitat
in three program areas:
Core Conservation
Facilitate conservation planning
and management on public and private lands in
key linkages and conservation areas.
Roads and Wildlife
Provide safe
passages for wildlife across roadways in the
face of an ever-expanding transportation
network.
Community Connections
Engage with local citizens and the public to
restore landscape connections for wildlife
through effective communication, outreach, and
community-based projects.
