Internet Map Server (IMS): An effective and accessible tool

The map server is no longer in service please contact Connor Bailey at connor@nativeecosystems.org or 303-454-3343 for more information.  Sorry for the inconvenience.

The ArcIMS Conservation Mapping tool provides critical and timely data to local groups that are working in the field on behalf of the most critical wildlands in the Southern Rockies. By merely connecting to the internet and clicking a few buttons, groups have access to data on wildlife linkages, threatened and endangered species, roadless area delineations, current and consistent forest service and BLM boundaries, and more.

ArcIMS is a powerful, scalable tool that enables environmental activists to quickly design and manage Internet mapping services for their on-the-ground work. ArcIMS software enables users to integrate local data sources with Internet data sources for display, query, and analysis in the Web browser they already have without the need for additional software. Click here for a quick tutorial

Another very useful ArcIMS site is GeoCommunicator is sponsored by the Bureau of Land Management and the US Forest Service. As an integral part of the National Integrated Land System (NILS), GeoCommunicator is designed to provide geospatial data and products from NILS to the public. GeoCommunicator facilitates the sharing of geographic data among federal, state, local, and private individuals and organizations interested in providing the public with national datasets. GeoCommunicator provides a central site for the distribution of geospatial data in three separate applications: Land and Mineral Use Records, Federal Land Stewardship and Land Survey Information System.

This ArcIMS tool was made possible by funding from the Southern Rockies Conservation Alliance and by funding, software, and expertise from the Colorado Environmental Coalition
